It’s an esthetical surface, hardly recognizable as being a tile floor. The special designed, tiny surface profile helps maintain a positive grip at all times, even when damp. It also reduces the visibility of scratch and skid marks for a long lasting beautiful look.

Small, patented slits in the surface are designed to prevent mold and mildew. The shape and size of these slits keep spilt fluids from seeping through. However during cleaning, when a heavy scrubbing machine passes over the floor, the compressed and expanding rubber underlayment may suck up cleaning fluids. The open structure underneath our tiles and the slits induce airflow, enabling fluids to evaporate, preventing the creation of mildew. The slits also dampen the drum effect of a solid top, reducing noise.

Several sport organizations, including Special Olympics have chosen our MultiSport floor as their official surface. Our patented surface design gives quad skates and inlines the best grip in the industry. The two-level surface relief works in such a way, that the wheels only touch the top layer for low friction during cruise and speed skating; but for cornering and accelerating the wheels dig into the lower layer for high friction and wheel grip. SkateCourt is the most modern technology for general skating, speed skating, artistic skating and inline hockey and the combination thereof.

When jumping on the suspended tile floor, figure skaters feel the spring effect during push-off and landings for higher jumps and softer landings. Artistic skaters notice the low friction for longer push-offs and rolls. SkateCourts all around the world have the same surface specification, for consistent competitive skating experience.

Speed Skaters recognize the consistent wheel grip throughout the season; there is no diminishing surface grip because of the failing floor coating. This grip is consistent on any SkateCourt around the world, making equipment preparation easy.

SkateCourt is a superb surface for inline hockey. It has the same qualities as the floors used during the inline hockey world championships. The strong wheel grip makes for high speed skating maneuvers and stops. The surface profile reduces friction of the puck, for higher speeds and longer glides. The surface perforations prevent the puck from notoriously wobbling.

The precise locking system with a tremendously tight fit makes a seamless surface. The floor becomes monolithic, meaning a one piece slab. It does not feel like skating on separate tiles, there are no sounds, no clicks. Small star-shaped slits in the surface called diffusers dampen the rolling noise and also allow evaporation of fluids. A special woven underlayment further promotes the skate feel and feedback. The floor is anchored to prevent it from shifting.

Maintenance and cleaning are minimum by damp-mopping the dust on a daily bases and perhaps using a floor scrubber every three months or so. SkateCourt flooring systems are not coated, eliminating the laborious and expensive process of stripping and coating every season. The surface will last for more than 15 years with minimum maintenance, providing a consistent wheel grip.

SkateCourt is not effected by moisture or insects and therefore is unaffected by water damage in the building. SkateCourt tiles are easily assembled and disassembled and ideal as portable installation. An installation of a SkateCourt system typical takes one day.

SkateCourt tiles come in custom colors, which can be worked into different patterns of custom designs. To create a special atmosphere with lights off, we offer fluorescent tiles, which glow in the dark. These tiles can be arranged as speckled illuminations or lines on the surface.

Click on our photo gallery and visit a rink nearby to share the fun of modern skating.

Skating Rink Surface System

Outdoor Sports Floor for Hockey and Basketball

IceCourt Outdoor takes the sport of outdoor roller hockey to a higher standard.

IceCourt Outdoor is a rigid tile surface, which holds up to the harsh environment of outdoor hockey and ball sports. The patented surface is similar to that of the Inline Hockey World Championships, with the best wheel grip and fastest puck speeds.

Our precision locking system with expansion joints and springs is specifically designed for extreme temperature changes. 3mm gaps between tiles allow for the thermal expansion and contraction. This way, each individual tile can expand and contract, instead of the whole floor moving.

The IceCourt Outdoor locking system was engineered so that disassembling is quite tough, except you have a special tool. This, after long experience with kids removing the tiles for their own backyard.

The design of the tile uses a 4 mm surface layer, which is supported by end open structure with force bridges underneath, enable strong impact resistance. It also promotes flexibility against falls, preventing impact injuries.

Specially shaped surface perforations allow easy rain and dust drainage, but do not diminish the wheel grip. The subsurface can dry quickly after a rain shower. Water and dust can be removed using a leaf blower. The tiles will remain flat thanks to the hi-tech five-point injection system, which avoids material stress.

The tiles are made from custom formulated material with high-tech UV protection, which will withstand the rough roller hockey operation.

It’s smooth surface makes it a formidable surface for outdoor basketball and recreational sports. The surface can be installed permanently or portable.

Outdoor Sports Floor for Hockey and Basketball

Multipurpose Gym Sport Floors

IceCourt’s MultiSport is a solid top tile surface suitable for gymnastics, ball sports and roller sports. Check out our reference list and photo gallery.

Multipurpose Gym Floor

InLine Hockey Surface - Ice Court Pro

IceCourt Pro was designed to simulate the same feel, skating characteristics and puck behavior as ice hockey while using inline skates. It was designed to be left in place during winter, by freezing it in the ice. It gives the ice a beautiful blue shimmer, without the need for ice paint.

“IceCourt is the only surface that is designed specifically for inline hockey.”
Charlie Yoder, Head Coach, USA National Inline Hockey Team

To design a dry Polypropylene surface that has similar skating characteristics as ice while using inline skates is a challenge. The wheel grip must be good, but not too grippy, so that regular hockey stops can be performed and still have enough grip to prevent slipping during tight turns and acceleration. The feedback of many great European ice hockey players were evaluated during the development. A fine balance was found, together with specially formulated material, which became the basis of our patented perforated surface.

To enhance the puck speed on a flat surface, we designed tiny pinheads, which reduce the contact area of the puck, allowing similar speeds and glide characteristics as on ice. The perforation in the floor diffuses the air buildup underneath the puck, preventing it from wobbling during high speed shots.

The combination of a faster puck together with a super fast skating surface has made the game of inline hockey as exciting as ice hockey.

INLINE HOCKEY SURFACE

Roller Hockey Surface - Ice Court Exxcess

In roller hockey, the surface is the most important element. A fast game is more exciting for the players as well as for the audience. IceCourt is the fastest skating surface with specific, patented design elements to speed up the game of inline hockey. It is the only surface specially designed for inline hockey.

The tile panels click together very easily and leaves the surface seamless and without any gap to catch or slow the puck. The surface perforation difuses air pressure build-up underneath the high speed inline hockey puck, so the puck does not lift or wobble. Tiny pinheads on the surface elevate the puck so it glides as if on a sheet of ice.

The wheel grip is perfect. At high speeds the special surface relief creates a secure sense of skate contact, allowing high speed skating maneuverability. At fast skating speeds the wheels only touch the top surface with very low friction; while at maneuvering speeds and hockey stops the wheels dig into the lower surface profile for tremendous grip. Special silicon-soaked panels within the Goalkeeper’s crease help goalies do fast side-slip maneuvers.

IceCourt EXXESS was chosen as the Official Floor for the World Championships of International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), Junior Olympics, State Wars Hockey, just to name a few. IceCourt EXXESS is also being used in several countries for their National inline hockey championships.

Ice Court - Sport Floors - Who We Are

In 1996 the IIHF in Switzerland commissioned the design and production of an inline hockey floor, with similar skating and puck behavior as ice hockey.

The first floor was introduced in 1997 during an international IIHF inline hockey tournament in Bratislava, Slovakia, with teams from six countries.
IIHF World Championship 2006

IceCourt LLC was formed in 1998 in the USA and has since supplied the surfaces for many World Championships held in Europe and North America and National Championships world wide.

IceCourt has become the worlds leading specialist in flooring for roller sports with hundreds of floors sold around the world. No other company has designed floors so specific to figure skating, artistic skating, speed skating, Roller Derby, quad roller hockey and inline hockey.

Floors made for roller sports are the toughest of any floor. They must withstand the pounding of hockey sticks, the impact of players and skates, the scratches and slides of tumbling skaters and the shifting of the floor by hundreds of people skating in a counterclockwise direction.

For roller sports, the floors need to be seamless, virtually monolithic, and extraordinarily flat. Nobody in the Polypropylene industry has achieved a better product with all these attributes.

The extraordinary quality of IceCourt has led it to be the preferred floor for multipurpose use, such as basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, ball hockey, soccer, dodge ball, gymnastics and aerobics.

IceCourt is also used for private basement covering and backyard courts.

IceCourt.com
